Often, parents at Shalom Torah Academy will refer to their fellow parents, the students and staff as members of their "Shalom family". This is because Shalom offers an educational experience that encompasses much more than standard classes. For those who are interested, Shalom Torah sponsors numerous special events around the calendar, which are opportunities for networking with other Shalom families. Some of these events are held at the school, with parents invited, such as the Model Seder at Passover, the Thanksgiving Feast, the Multicultural Fair, Expressive Art Fair, Science Fair, Purim Carnival, Chanukah Play, as well as Kindergarten and Middle School Graduations. Shalom has numerous programs for off-campus events that unify the school family. The "Funday" program involves once-a-month activities where families of current students, as well as alumni, relatives and friends get together on a Saturday night or Sunday for Kosher food and entertainment. Some of the popular Fundays include roller skating, ice skating, snow tubing, sports events, and laser tag. Shalom Torah works in conjunction with other Jewish educational programs such as the National Conference of Synagogue Youth, Project Gesher, Gateways, Monmouth Torah Links and J.E.P. to organize families. These weekends offer the full Shabbat experience including fascinating lectures, sumptuous meals, lively entertainment, and full children's program. In addition to family Shabbatons, events such as the Chanukah Extravaganza, Purim Megilla Reading, and Torah Study and fun programs offer an opportunity for parents to enjoy quality time with their children while learning about their rich Jewish heritage. Shalom organizes programs to show solidarity with our Jewish brethren in Israel, such as sending students to the Israeli Day Parade, participating in solidarity rallies and organizing charity campaigns to aid the victims of terror in the State of Israel.
